Composite

Composite restorative materials offer an aesthetic solution to restorative dentistry. We are able to remove the decayed tooth structure and replace it with a colour matched filling. Composite restorations are a multistep process which require the working field to be completely dry to ensure proper application and adhesion of the material. Since composite restorations need a dry field to ensure a great long-term result, they are better suited to some types of restorative situations. The adhesive properties of dental composite allow for composite restorations to generally be more conservative when compared to dental amalgam (silver) restorations. We only use premium materials to ensure that you get the most out of your new restorations.

Amalgam

Amalgam restorations, also known as “silver fillings”, have been the work horse of restorative dentistry for a very long time. They are a cost-effective alternative to composite restorations that have a longstanding record of success. Amalgam restorations are beginning to fall out of favour due to their colour and the fact that they contain mercury. There have been many scientific studies investigating the possible health effects of amalgam restorations and these studies have shown dental amalgam to be a safe material. Great care is taken in our office to ensure that any amalgam material is handled in a manner that is safe for our patients and staff.
